Foundations 1, Introduction to Truffle Hunting ZOOM Class Wednesday Oct 30, Nov 6th, 13th @ 4:30 pm PST,7:30 pm EST

This course will start you out in the sport of truffle hunting! With practice and online guidance, you will be well on your way to harvesting truffles or ready for our intermediate class and advanced classes in person.

While you are in the comfort of your home, we will help you work with your dog,set up practice sessions, watch you, and give you feedback. You will receive access to your instructors Victoria Gideon, KPA-CPT, CPDT-KA, CNWI, Anthony Lujan, and Alana McGee, CPDT-KA, to help with any questions you have during your weeks of class.

We will hold a once-a-week Zoom Q & A call- our Fireside Chats between your classes so if you get stuck, we are here to help! *if you’re in a different time zone- we are also available by appointment

You will also get access to our Online Classroom complete with step-by-step written instructions and Videos as we work with you.

What you will learn:

In Foundations 1 we will begin by covering the theory, seasons, gear, and how to set you and your dog up for success. By the end of the first class, you will be well on your way to helping your dog learn how to find the truffle scent as something wonderful! We will begin working on detection, distraction and dog gone fun! You will be working your dog in class in the comfort and convenience of your own home!

Dates & Times

THIS CLASS MEETS on Wednesdays 4:30 pm Pacific Time/ 7:30 pm Eastern Standard time. Although the class is online, we still have limited spots in each section. This section will be known as the “Poodle” Section. This is not specific to a Breed, but to organizationally help you follow along on which class group you belong in when signing up for subsequent classes as well.

Online class sessions:

Orientation Q & A:Monday Oct 21st @ 4:45 pm pst/7:45 pm est

Orientation is a pre recorded 1+ hr long session prior to the start of your class, followed up with a live Q & A 45min. session that will also be recorded– but it is expected you will watch these PRIOR to class.

First class will be on Wednesday Oct 30, Nov 6, Nov 14th @ 4:30 pm

Fireside chats Monday, Nov 4, 11th, 18th, @ 6:00 PM PST/9:00 pm EST

Please allow 45-50 min for each class. Fireside chats are 30 min.

  • Orientation Q & A, classes and firesides will be recorded for your access if you can not make it to a class.

Equipment

We will cover gear and materials in your orientation. However, you will need to purchase an odor kit with registration. Please choose the kit below that best works for you.

Please allow 1 – 2 weeks delivery time and if you are in Canada, please allow 2-3 weeks due to customs. If you are joining us from EU or AU please allow 3-6 weeks delivery time due to customs. (see above for links to each training species)

If you wish feed back on your homework, please be sure you have a device you can record on like a phone and a way to upload it.

No Prong, slip, choke chains or E-collars are allowed during classes. There will be a list of other basic supplies you’ll want to get for use in class. They are simple and easy to source, we will send out a list prior to class so you’ll have time to prepare along with your orientation materials.

Additional Items

Online course materials and forums will reinforce the skills you learn in face-to-face classes in addition to teaching you about the science of truffles and scent detection, truffle habitat, truffle care and more.

**If you have two working dogs in your household you’d like to work, please purchase two spots. One dog and handler per team, if you wish to add a second person please discuss this with your instructor. (Children are always allowed to be included in online foundation classes)
