Campground

One of the best places I’ve ever camped. 5 minutes to downtown banff, 10 minutes to lake Louise, 10 minutes to the park and ride. Super scenic, right along the water. I love that there are electrical fences around it so you don’t have to worry about wildlife coming in. Clean bathrooms, beautiful sites. Really amazing staff/rangers, too!

I LOVE TRAIN … but it’s a bit too much you will get wake up by train every 2-3 hours at night… camping spots are nice and clean a it too close to one a other. Only one spot to take a shower so depending where is your campsite you may have to walk 10-15 min.

What a wonderful campground. We stayed here for a week and were very happy with our experience. One main shower house with about 7 showers, several bathroom houses scattered throughout with a sink for washing dishes, several spots for free wood, site for water fill-up and an abundance of sites. Crews make their rounds several times a day, just driving around, emptying trash vaults, and we even saw crews out picking up trash. This campground was very clean and well kept. There is a train in the area that goes by and makes some noise every once in awhile but it quickly becomes “white-noise” and just part of the experience. Would 100% camp here again and I hope we can someday.

Nice and clean campground. Decent size of campsite that two tens and cars for well. The fire pit is small, but has a hinged grill and side plates. It is protected by an electrified fence against wildlife, but there are patrols all the time that tell you to keep everything inside. Even the water bowl of the dog was removed by the patrol when we went for a walk. there are many hot water showers, more than the washrooms! And it doesn't have electricity at the campsites, which left us cold in the mountains at night.

Compared to most in the area, it's a rather bland campground but in a great location for visitors in the Lake Louise area. The facilities are clean and kept up and the trail system is really nice for walking all the way into town. There isn't anything for kids on this side of the campground, so you'll have to entertain yourself. There also aren't very many fire pits in the trailer court, so that's a downer too.*Note that the train is directly beside the tracks and is very loud, so choose your spot wisely if you have the option to be picky.

Just ended a road trip through the Canadian Rockies, and out of all the campgrounds we stayed at, this was our favorite. The best thing about this campground is it's location. We were minutes from everything we wanted to access. It made getting up in the morning so much easier and it was such a relief that we could just walk into the village for some groceries. There are train tracks close by, but you're also on the other side of the river. At night, the sounds of the train, river, and highway 1 all kind of mash together into a white noise. For us city dwellers, this actually helped lull us to sleep faster. The campground is pretty well thought out. The sites a bit close, but nicely sized. The showers were awesome. Although they're just regular stalls with no bench to set your belongings, you can control the temp and don't have to keep pressing a button every few seconds. The water pressure was good, and the water stayed hot for a while, even if all the showers were in use. Separate regular bathrooms also helped break up the amount of people in the shower building. Would definitely stay here again!

Huge campground that caters to tenting on one side and RV's with hookups on the other side. Close to town and the lake but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing.Facilities are well kept up, running water, sinks for doing dishes and camping shelters + lockers if you are cyclingThe tenting area is fully fenced but still large enough you don't see the fence or feel like you are in an enclosure. I believe there are over 200 sites in the tenting area alone....but there is still lots of privacy. The campground is also paved, the site pads are gravel but the roads are all paved.

Good campsite, very close to Lake Louise. Clean washrooms. Losing a star for no available firewood for 2.5 days (temps dropped to 1 C). Also no trail network inside the campsite itself however there is electrified fence along the parameter to keep bears out. Quiet during the nights to except for the occasional train. Will definately be coming back. Pup approves 😃

It's nice that the soft-sided section is surrounded with electric fence. There is good shade under the trees and camping stalls are reasonably sized. The dishwashing sink was good but there was only one washroom nearby with just one toilet and only one shower building which was quite far away from us.

We stayed here for 3 nights in tent at the last long weekend of the season with our giant size dog. The camp located in a beautiful area, and we really liked our campsite (H7). The fire pit is not too big, but handy. The nearest washroom did not work when we arrived, but they fixed it later. The staff is nice, friendly and helpful. We were lazy campers so we used the shower around 10-11am and we always got in as soon as we arrived there. (Hard side camp did not have hot water at this time)Pros: free firewood, electric fence to keep the bears out, village is in a 20 mins walk distance, depends on your site you can have privacy,Cons: the railway and the highway is close, you can hear it nighttime, Lake Louise is crazily crowded, the firewood was wet, so the whole camp looked like the inside of a big smoker , and a more detailed map of the camp would be amazingAnd one more thing: people please, please, please clean up your hair sausages after washing your hair in the showers. It`s just really disgusting for the next person to get through the barb wires.Overall this is a great camp, with amazing views to the mountains, the stars are shining at nights, and safe to be here.

We loved this campground. It has an electric fence that runs the parameter to keep the bears out. Lots of trains and train noise- but otherwise a quiet campground. Lots of families with kids. Paved pathways running through the campground are perfect for little kids to bike on. The staff ran a nightly presentation on different topics- such as wolverines, backcountry camping and geo-cashing. The staff were incredibly patient with all of the young kids- we were highly impressed with them. The reason I’m giving it 4/5 stars is because the bathrooms and showers were very dirty and gross. For a national park- they were not up to standard. Make sure to bring shower shoes.

TL;DR: This is by far the WORST campground I've ever stayed at❗<--------------------->[I'm exhausted & writing this from my tent at Campsite K8 at Lake Louise Soft-Sided Campground just before midnight]The first thing we noticed were the sites are very close together (but a few were nice) and the site had trash and firewood strewn about. The following list all occured after dark (Site K8 is DIRECTLY on the edge of the parking lot for the showers):• Headlights from parking lot from visitors all night shining through our tent• RVs camped in parking lot with noise from them• Constant train going by with whistle• Constant highway noise• People often walking by to the bathhouse and the parking lot• Someone chopping firewood• People slamming the heavy bearproof trashcan lid from somewhere nearby• Car alarm• People up talking and laughing loudly from both nearby sites and the parking lot[Night One]With all the noise, we had to sleep in the car, which you can apparently do for free right beside our campsite.[Night Two]After coming back around 1530 from hiking tired all day (that started at 0430), we dreaded another sleepless night that would lead to try another day we couldn't enjoy at the Banff National Park, so we abandoned the site and booked a hotel in the city of Banff to head home the following day. This is ridiculous from a world-renowned Park and a very poor first impression for our first experience there. It felt like we were camping IN the parking lot!

Level sites with big pads for your tent (we were car camping so didn't use the tent space). Sites were relatively close together so not a lot of privacy. Plenty of trees which provided shade (but also obscured the amazing views which were available at the south end of the campground. Washrooms were clean and maintained. Good showers (but no bench). Appreciated the bear fence to feel a little safer at night.

What. A. Charming. Beautiful. Place. I think I'm in love with Canadian national parks. This was gorgeous, easy to maneuver, and very safe. We had a car-top pop-up tent that was easy to set up with plenty of level ground. We did a bit of hiking around the area and it was all breathtaking.

Large shared sites for two RVs. But the electrical points are completely incorrectly located! They are located on the passenger front corner of each site, so when parked to have your door facing the picnic table and outdoor space provided, the electrical connection requires the cord to be run underneath the rig and an extension used in many cases to reach the plug. And they are new power points so someone simply had no clue how to pay the sites out for RVs.On top of that, the young student registering the arrivals is not an RVer and has no clue about the most basic questions regarding the campground. But, on the good side, the location is perfect for visiting Lake Louise and Lake Moraine.Note that they have stopped ALL car and RV access to Lake Moraine!!! You HAVE to use a commercial or park shuttle, with reservations, at a fee around $50 each to see the lake.Lake Louise is not open to large RVs during the day but cars are allowed. We rode our bikes up the narrow, busy, potentially dangerous, road with insufficient place for bikes. Ebikes are not allowed on the bike trail. We rode the very steep road up with cars, busses and trucks whizzing by within inches of us and decided to take the bike trail back down to the campground regardless of it being illegal due to the danger on the road. The trail was very quiet and very nice. I highly recommend taking the trail rather than the roadOverall, lake Louise is stunningly beautiful but the hordes of people made it very touristy, loud and less enjoyable. This must be expected at this time of the year (July), so it just has to be considered. Perhaps going there late afternoon around 8PM would be advisable to avoid the crazy crowds. All in all, it is a decent campground for the express purpose of visiting the lakes.

Great campground! We have stayed here twice now and loved it both times. We stayed for the September long weekend and our only complaint was that there was barely any fire wood, it was ridiculous. The electric fence is awesome & gives you peace of mind. The showers and bathrooms were very clean and we will definitely be staying here again. The river runs right next to the campground which is also a nice bonus. Also there is cell reception here as well a little spotty for some providers though.

Absolutely love this campsite.Great location-walkable to village, along the river and hikes to Lake Louise.Electric fence around so a feeling of a bit more security from animals such as bears.Facilities aren't always the cleanest but can cope with them.Free firewood with fire permit.

Great campground. Note that the Lake Louise Soft Sided campground (located on the West side of the river) does allow for smaller hard sided trailers (<20 feet) on some of the sites. This side is much more treed and scenic. There are nice paved pathways throughout the campground for bikes. The washroom and cleaning faculties are also very nice.

Friendly people checking you in/out of the campground. Check in was fast and easy, all you need to know is your site number. They will confirm the rest with you and give you a map to your site location. Each site is decent. The ground is hard, for those pitching a tent. There is a picnic table and fire container at each site, and free wood is provided near the shower building. The washroom building had two bathroom stalls, which can get busy in the morning and at night. The shower building had several showers but they were all pretty gross. Lots of hair and bandaids all over the place. Also, the shower curtains were all far too long, so they just hung in the shower, with yellow/orange/brown stains all over them. It seems whoever is charged with cleaning this building hasn't done so in a month or more. There are also several leaky faucets that could have been fixed, but are wasting water while they drip. The campsite has an electrified fence around it, but you absolutely must still place all of your foods and smelly items (toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) in a bear proof container or your vehicle. I believe the reason they have an electric fence around this campsite was because they had a couple fatalities from a bear looking for food in a couple tents a few years ago.

Full of stars at nightThe whole camp sites are protected by electrical fences from wild life. Feel safe during stay.Shower and kitchen are provided.
